Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5066 Japan Edition
Produced in 1999, this Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5066 represents one of the most distinctive early expressions of the model. Crafted in stainless steel and fitted with a deep blue embossed dial and matching blue tropical strap, this configuration was created exclusively for the Japanese market.
The reference 5066 carries a prototype-like character. At 36mm, it reflects a period when Patek Philippe was still defining what the Aquanaut could be. Sporty, unconventional, and quietly experimental. The grid-pattern dial, rounded Arabic numerals, and rubber strap felt radical at the time, especially coming from a house known for restraint and tradition.
Japan-only Aquanaut editions from this era were produced in very limited numbers and rarely surface outside the region. This example is presented in top condition and is accompanied by an Extract from the Archives, confirming its production and originality.
